Instant Pot Quinoa! This is really the simplest, easiest way to make perfect quinoa. I’m not kidding – this is a game changer. This is now my go-to way to make quinoa. It is so easy and produces fluffy quinoa that is perfectly cooked.
Have you started to eat more quinoa? When we were recently in Peru, we kept hearing about how great quinoa is for you. This was a staple food of the Incas – they considered it sacred and the mother of all grains – and it’s still a staple in Peru.
“Often referred to as the super grain, quinoa (KEEN-wah) is high in fibre and high-quality protein. In fact, it contains more protein than any other grain while also packing in iron and potassium. One-half cup of cooked quinoa has 14 grams of protein and 6 grams of fibre”. One cup of quinoa has only 222 calories. It’s low in carbohydrates, gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan and low in fat and also contains omega-3 fatty acids.
This recipe is really easy to remember and if you make your quinoa this way once, you are never going back to stovetop.

Prep time: 1 minutes; Cook time: 1 minute (+ 4 minutes to get to pressure + 10 minutes to release = 15 minutes total); Serves: 3 cups
What you need:
- 1 cup quinoa
- 1 cup water
- cooking spray
What you do:
- Rinse your quinoa under running water thoroughly until it stops foaming
- Spray your instant pot with cooking spray
- Add the rinsed quinoa
- Add the water
- Close and lock the lid of your instant pot, making sure the Steam Release knob is turned to “seal”
- Set your pressure to “Manual” for 1 minute
- “Natural Release” for 10 minutes and then “Quick Release”
- Open
- Fluff
- Enjoy!
